Kristin is a creative director and designer currently teaching design and illustration at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA). For the past decade, she has used her background as an award-winning editorial art director to design meaningful experiences, publications, and brand strategies across media. She spent 2010-2018 as art director for Bitch Media, an independent media organization whose mission is to provide and encourage an engaged, thoughtful feminist response to mainstream media and pop culture. Her work with nonprofits and values-driven organizations proves that thoughtful design drives engagement, builds community, and makes a difference in people's lives.

Her experience heading up the global design team for leadership development consulting firm Oliver Wyman intensified her interest in cultivating creative talent. She believes that vulnerability, self knowledge, accountability, and calculated risk-taking create a more inclusive culture where people can thrive and innovate.

As assistant professor and department head in graphic design at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), Kristin has developed the senior-level advanced studios in design and illustration, moonlights in various graphic design and collaborative design courses, and mentors thesis students. She encourages learning by doing, regularly bringing professional studio work into her classes to create a culture of experimentation and a smoother transition into working life. She serves as mentor and creative director for PNCA’s Center for Design, a working studio incubator focused on client work, led by teams of design and illustration students. She also organizes and co-leads PNCA’s Design Lecture Series, along with Bijan Berahimi of FISK Studio.

Kristin is a former vice president of AIGA Portland (the professional organization for design). She has worked with a range of sustainable design and design community initiatives, including AIGA's Women Lead, the social change project Design for Good, and the Exploregon zine project; regional environmental art magazine Bear Deluxe; Worldstudio's Urban Forest Project; and Design Week Portland.
